You likely don’t need anything in this Sale.
I think we all need that collective reminder a few times a year more than usual and while Black Friday takes the cake, the Back to School / Nordstrom Sale / Prime Day crossover follows in a close second. I used to shop the Sale so diligently, combing through every single item and convincing O we needed things because “look how much money I saved!” Somewhere around five years ago, I told myself something I’ve never let go of: spending money you didn’t budget to spend on items that are wants not needs is never ‘saving.’ In a generation—a society, really—where more and more people lack the skills and the discipline to save, it feels almost frivolous to do a Sale roundup. So this is the strategy I live by: only buy the things you already purchase and repurchase or items you truly need and would have bought full price.
Don’t let the sale price trick you into thinking you need something you otherwise wouldn’t have—sometimes it’s actually only an $8 savings. I didn’t comb through everything in the sale this year because 100 pages is just much too much right now, but I’ll separate my picks into three different categories: things I own and love, things I’d love to buy and things I’m absolutely buying. Let’s go.
