This week included a design meeting for my parents’ new build, a date night with O, an extremely rare sibling night with my parents and zero of our combined thirteen children, practices and games, the multi-day process of braiding the big kids’ hair and endless chasing of a ten month old baby who is determined to climb everything imaginable.
‘Twas windy, ‘twas date night. I hope these two photos are a case for two things: the jeans I’ve been raving about for months and strolling the Zara men’s section to take a chance on some so-ugly-they’re-cute sandals. The top is old Doen.
I’ve had this Doen dress since their first collection maybe six (?) years ago and it’s still a favorite.
I absolutely don’t always wear an apron when I cook or bake but will forever require one when I need to keep a black outfit from getting covered in flour or a white outfit protected from pasta sauce. I almost can’t believe the amount of old Doen I wore this week, but it’s proof that I invest in staple items I see myself wearing for years on end and then I really do just that. I didn’t do my eyebrows this day and I feel so exposed. No makeup? More common than a face of makeup for me. No brow gel? I might as well be butt naked.
This same tee from last week on repeat in both black and white plus old Dissh knit pants for a site visit.
Yes, they look like Moses, Dennis Rodman, your Aunt who wears toe socks and maybe your seventh grade History teacher would wear them. Yes, I’m forever team Men’s Sandals. (Would I be if I could fit in 90% of Women’s sandals currently unavailable to me? We’ll never know.)
The closest thing I have to an outfit shot on a date night with my baby. We hit up a favorite restaurant, his favorite ice cream shop and Monster Mini Golf—a dress and O’s favorite denim jacket never fails me for that agenda.
For a couple months now, I’ve been conducting experiments with my fridge starter and my countertop starter and I’m happy to report that both make such beautiful bread. I don’t eat it myself, but it’s a crowd pleaser and I want my kitchen to smell like a fresh loaf every day of my life. Loving this recipe most but using a few.
Veggie loaded pasta for O with the gluten-free sourdough Lema’s teacher baked and delivered to me at the school’s production of Beauty and the Beast. I love their school so, so much.
It doesn’t look like much, but this was heavenly. I made up a meal since they didn’t offer anything AIP specific (I’m not eating beef or pork or else I’d have chosen a steak, no question) and enjoyed this so much.
Everyone who ate these sourdough discard scones raved in such a way that I feel like I missed out on a slice of magic so you have to make these if you have sourdough starter. Couldn’t be quicker or easier.
Not pictured but noteworthy— I made my favorite crockpot tikka masala and coconut rice while the kids were at school and packed it all up while they changed into soccer gear for sideline picnic. I make O a vegan version and leave it on the stove so it’s ready to go when he gets home from work and I like to mix tofu and chickpeas for that.
I also made the corn chowder for them that they’ve loved for years which lets me know Summer is in the air. I served with sourdough and some version of this salad is a perfect side. Adapt this recipe to your diet and preference.
Hi there! Came back to this post to get the sourdough bread recipe and also wanted to know what recipe you used for the scones? They look scrumptious!
Thank you for sharing Jill!! Can you share the link for the sourdough discard scone recipe please? They look wonderful and I'd love to try them with my relatively young sourdough yeast (only been working at it for about a month now - so fun!)?
