On My Body & On My Plate 1.21.24
Lets call this an even more real and vulnerable peek into my menu and wardrobe
So I started off really strong this week. Things were lookin’ up. I made my forever favorite carnitas (by the grace of God because it was my only protein source aside from eggs for a hot minute.) And did a cute little meal prep, but not the full meal prep because Sunday was Lema’s birthday. By Monday night, the heart episode began and the heart/bronchitis situation didn’t let up in an impactful enough way for me to be fully functioning until literally today. For context, it’s Saturday night.
For four days, I didn’t make a meal—everyone just had to go with what was easy and quick. Thankfully, I was back in full force today and had to do it big. Just know that the extent of my “fashion” this week was my coziest, favorite pajama-adjacent staples and the food you see was the tippy top of the week and then the very end (like, today) just in the nick of time.
For your viewing pleasure, all the “on my body” photos this week are photos I texted O or a sister so expect only the highest quality and inspiration, y’all. And that wraps up the outfits I’m able to post on the internet.
Cooking for my people is one of my greatest love languages and joys. I enjoyed a stretch of days where I didn’t have to do it and equally enjoyed a long Saturday where I got to get back to it. Knowing that they’re excited about a yummy meal after a long day of schoolwork and sports and chores and work genuinely warms me deep in my belly like an ember and it feels special that this is part of my role. Watching Lema make breakfast for dinner for everyone while I laid in bed with my heating pad on my chest watching Mad About You? That sparked the ember just as much, too.
1 favorite cozy tee. 1 favorite cozy boxer. 2. 3. 4. cupcake transporter I’ve had and loved for 12 years. 5. 6. melamine unbreakable plates the kids have used for years. 7. 8.
What are you making this week? Let me know in the comments and if you make the carnitas, best believe I’m gonna need to hear about it. See you Friday, friends.
Glad you are better!!! We have those melamine plates and bowls and have also had them for years, leading me to believe they’re unbreakable...until my 16 mo learned how to play “table,” set them all out on my family room floor and my 7 yo stepped on one and it was done 😅
I really am actually in love with your fit in the last pic with your purple smoothie 😂😍 I wish it was on my body right now haha. Especially feeling the pony tail to the side, but I’m in the painful process of growing out my pixie, so longer hair in almost any form I wish I had.
I don’t have any clue what I’m going to make this week, but I’ll tell you what I was proud of making this past week! First was chicken tikka masala (with my own curry paste), jasmine rice with some butter, and homemade naan of course. It’s my hubby’s favorite and has taken me a while to tweak the recipe to get it just where we want it. Next was a whole roasted chicken with roasted potatoes and roasted asparagus. So delicious. Then I used the bones and other bits to make bone broth! Feeling accomplished with those two meals even though the rest of the week was a struggle.
