Harry Potter Forbidden Forest and Mavs vs. Lakers? What a week.
This post is too long for email format so be sure to head over to the Substack app or view it on the site to see the whole thing!
This past week was one for the books but it also was one of those weeks you could well and truly only pull off the week before Christmas break was on the horizon. Phewww, Mama’s tired. (That needs to be said in the thickest southern drawl you can muster.) I asked our sitter if she was free for Tuesday of this week months ago when I saw the Lakers were coming to town, but I assumed O wouldn’t want to go anymore after the events of the last few weeks. I’m so glad he was up for a night on the town because we had the best time. I took Lema out for a surprise date to the Forbidden Forest which is an incredibly cool Harry Potter experience since he’s we read Harry Potter out loud together. You guys, it was the sweetest thing.
When I have ten minutes to get ready for church—olaplex mask in the hair and one of my most worn dresses of all time (I just cross the front over and tie the belt so the V isn’t so deep, but it allows me to wear it for all my pregnancies til literally my due date while still being flattering months and years after.)
My dad’s Superbowl sweatshirt from Abercrombie just happens to be the coziest sweatshirt known to man.
O’s Stanford letterman jacket, this Good American bodysuit, Express jeans from right after I had Keogena in 2016 and super old Manolo Blahnik shoes
Hey from E’s nearly 6 month well check. I’m absolutely obsessed with this Old Navy vest, y’all. The top is old Lululemon, the leggings are Aligns and the shoes are 2011 Nike.
Celine is ancient, trench is ancient, old anthro sweater I can’t find, pants, boots.
Harry Potter Forbidden Forest was more freezing than I anticipated, but genuinely was the sweetest night with my guy. My jacket is on old Cole Haan rain coat, his is the coat I repurchase for all my kids every two years. Best in the busieness.
Just gonna leave this here.
This outfit worn with heeled booties or chunky boots or even birks or a sandal is effortless and cool but with these sneakers, it gave off stay at home mom vibes strong. This was for basketball Saturday—Gap maternity shirt, this teddy vest (almost completely sold out,) white denim I’m obsessed with lately and these sneakers.
I typically don’t drink caffeine but I love these little lattes so much. I split them between two days and they’re divine. This plus a Whole Foods salad eaten alone in the sun on my workday felt like a genuine vacation.
Carnitas night is my favorite night. I let this bad boy cook all day and it is perfection every single time.
My favorite paleo brownie recipe of all time.
You guys. This is my new favorite quick meal and it’s absolutely heavenly—everyone in the house is hooked. I just cook a gluten free noodle, heat a bit of Credo vegan alfredo sauce, add lots of pasta water to it and melt a ton of vegan parmesean in. I add frozen peas to finish and it’s lemony and creamy and comfort and joy intersected in a bowl.
Hey Jill! Having my first baby, and I was wondering if you have any diaper bag recommendations. I know you do your research!
