The 5 Things in my Kitchen I'm Currently Obsessed With
Pickles and the Sourdough Home make an appearance
Today’s Sunday letter is going to be simple and quick, holding off on the Meal Plan til’ next week. I paid attention to the things I’m currently reaching for constantly in my kitchen—3/5 of them being edible—and wanted to pass them along as we get ready for another week.
These Pickles. Not all pickles are created equally and if you love them, you know this. I love half-sour pickles most and also love a crisp baby dill and a bread and butter for snacking, sandwiches and tuna salad. I do have some pickles from The Pickle Guy on their way to me and I’ll report back on this extremely niche topic then, but for now, my favorite pickle has been crowned. If you enjoy bread and butter pickles, you must try this one. I get mine at Whole Foods and love storing it in my pickle straining jar which lets you drain liquids and is equal parts unnecessary and heavenly.
Sourdough Home. O gifted me this cutie after I asked for it this past Christmas and it took me a minute to decide if I actually needed it or not. By the time I decided it wasn’t worth the investment, O realized it was non-refundable so here we are. I find the biggest barrier between me and a few loaves of sourdough is timing the starter. In the Summer this is simple because it rises in no time, but in the Winter I have to time it perfectly and create a warm spot…it’s a whole thing. This is a temperature controlled little box that ensures you’re in control of the timing of your starter’s rise. I wish I would have gotten something I truly, deeply needed instead, but since it’s mine—no takebacks—I will admit that it’s wonderful.
The Defined Dish Chipotle Ranch Sauce. I bought this three pack of the Defined Dish sauces because she absolutely never misses and I had faith in her creations. I have to say, the kids and I put this Chipotle Ranch on everything. It’s absolutely incredible. I make my own sauces and have a chipotle ranch recipe I love, but what is better than a clean, delicious dressing you can just grab from the fridge in a pinch? You can get just this flavor isolated right here.
The Bowls. You knew they were going to show up here, it’d be dishonest not to. These bowls are such an essential to me that I’m about to buy a second large one just as a backup if anything happens to the one I already own. The pour spout, the stunning ceramic coloring, the shape and size, all of it. If a girl could have a dream bowl, this is mine.
My Sweet Chili Date Sauce. I say “my” because it’s my beloved and I’ve talked about it for a year and a half, not because it’s my sauce. This is the perfect sauce on just about everything and a taco or homemade burrito bowl goes from being plain (still delicious, of course) to feeling like you’re at a hole-in-the-wall award winning restaurant with the Chipotle Ranch and Chili Date Sauce on top.
This Amazon Board has all the healthy snacks, sauces, protein powders and essentials I keep stocked in the house if this list of five leaves you hungry.
Have a beautiful weekend, friends!
