Mother’s Day is two weeks away and this is the time I like to secure the gifts to ensure I have time for wrapping, shipping and everything without paying extra in cost for rushing or paying in guilt for tardiness. I’ve spent time over the past couple weeks curating gift guides and reflecting on my own favorite gifts from the past. The thing we all know (even when it’s deep in the recesses of our brain hidden behind our wishlists and saved carts) is that the material gifts rarely make the list. My kids painted me a mug that genuinely looks like a removed tumor sitting on a tray post surgery and I can’t tell you how happy it makes me. They made me this Amazon book last year which is super cheesy, but the customization puts the biggest smile on my face. The cards from my children now that they’re old enough to truly put feelings into words mean absolutely everything to me.

The further away I get from my twenties, I find myself reaching for experiences far more than handbags, jewelry or new shoes. I love a gift that ties into a current hobby rather than a gift that will make for an enviable photograph. Gifts that feel like something deep in my bones, passing my eyeballs and penetrating my heart.

You know I’m a gift guide gal. You know I’m a curator by nature and love hyper specific advice that allows you, the reader/friend, to say “this is exactly what I was looking for.” I could be dramatic and say it’s what I live for, but it’d only be 5% hyperbole. That being said, before I share alllll the guides, here’s a list of $0 ideas that might just surpass them all.
