This is a collection of outfits from the last two weeks since I didn’t share any in the lead up to Thanksgiving and I think we all felt a little exhausted by outfits in the craze and haze of Cyber Week. After over a year of these outfit roundups on Sundays, I started to feel so repetitive in my outfits. Is it really inspiring to see me wear the same sweatsuit for the thirty-seventh time?
I realized that there’s beauty in that, too. I don’t shop often. Currently, I haven’t shopped in months (outside of completing all my Christmas shopping last week—slight flex) and I don’t always have the new trendy Target jeans or the viral Amazon sweatsuit.
I do have staples I invested in wisely and carefully with the hopes of wearing them for years and reaching for them constantly. These roundups end up being proof of that and I love it. Sundays are supposed to be short and sweet so we’ll dive in.
A few of you promised me this summer that I’d find the robe tie I lost in the move just in time for Christmas. Still holding on to hope over here. They make this robe for the whole family so Lema, O and I match year round.
This Dissh dress has gotten me through two pregnancies and two postpartum seasons. She’s a gem. I found this trench for less than $50 in Canada years ago and it’s falling apart a bit, but I’ll wear it til’ the wheels fall off.
I snapped this at the end of Thanksgiving dinner, clearly getting paper from the guest room desk in preparation for Fish Bowl. These jeans are what my dreams are made of and the stretchy waist is 10/10 for a ridiculously large meal—this was a strategic move.
You can’t even see my outfit here, but this is the only photo I have. Black barrel jeans, a black Doen cable knit sweater, a black Sezane cardigan thrown over my shoulders and my favorite crossbody. We were downtown for our town Christmas tree lighting which was much colder than I expected, but I have zero outfit regrets.
Are we surprised? I wear this at least once a week and the pants get worn at least twice. There genuinely is just nothing comfier—my neighbor texted me this morning saying she bought it off my recommendation, put it on right when it arrived and bought another color immediately. That’s how buttery it is. O’s slippers prove this was another homeschool day.
A screenshot from this video—momiform at its finest.
Lastly, I’m still obsessed with these neon cowboy print silk pajamas from early this year. They’re almost sold out completely in every color way, but worth it if you can snag one in your size.
The Meal Plan:
Next week, I’ll share the plans that are My-Kids-Are-Home-And-Hungry-All-The-Time friendly since everyone’s babies will be home for break the following week, but this week is just more of the same. Cozy, hearty, mostly quick and always delicious.
Pot pie. The start of this week will be rainy and chilly so the always feels like the right move. This is the best healthy chicken pot pie recipe, but a way I always make it easier is to use a store bought gluten free crust for the kids and a store bought regular crust for O’s vegan version. I personally use a “winging it” recipe adapted from this vegan pot pie these days.
The Best Whole 30 pot Roast. I’ll serve this with sourdough to sop it all up, but if you’re a Pillsbury Grands or Crescent Rolls house, this feels like the right time.
20 Minute Ginger Pineapple Chicken Stir Fry. I’ll serve this with everyone’s favorite coconut rice.
Black Bean Burgers. This is a household favorite I’ve shared here before. O has loved these burgers since I first made them well before we had kids and now, all four of them love them too. I always love a day where I’m only making one meal so a meatless night is crucial for us. (Technically, I don’t eat beans so it’s not one meal, but I’ll be eating leftovers.) I need this meal to be quick so I’ll skip making my own buns this time around and serve them with baked beans and a quick salad.
Egg in the Hole & Breakfast for Dinner. I know we’ll need this one night to squeeze between basketball and homework. Turkey sausage in the air fryer, the leftover baked beans, berries with cream and lots and lots of eggs. My kids have each asked for this separately this week so I knew it was time.
We’ll have loaded sweet potatoes for a homeschool lunch day and I’ll eat turkey cassava tacos at least three days for lunch. I’ll roast a big tray of veggies for us to work through and I’ll be shocked at how quickly the food has vanished from the house again, always surprised it’s time to make dinner over and over for all eternity.
We’re in it together. Happy cooking, friends.
I have such high ambitions to try both the pot pie and the roast this week, but I struggle doing any major cooking with kids around. Hoping that the mantra “if Jill can do it, then I can!” will get me through!
…”and I’ll be shocked at how quickly the food has vanished from the house again, always surprised it’s time to make dinner over and over for all eternity.”
This forever and ever, amen.
